Past Summer Day Camps
The Caterpillar was happy to introduce a few new camps into our regular lineup this year! In addition to our familiar Music Camp: The Music of Nature, where children made and played their own instruments while learning about the science of music, and our Nature Camp, where kids could explore Pacifica’s habitats firsthand, we were pleased to present our new Horse Camp, introducing youngsters to the “dance of horsemanship.” Also new was an Art Camp wherein kids could experiment with different art mediums using nature as an inspiration. Finally, we were excited to once again partner with Imagine That Creative Children’s Center for two weeks of Preschool Nature Camp, which invited ages 4 to 6 have fun exploring nature through art and music.

Kids were invited to four unique camps this year! The Music of Nature created a special environment where music, nature, and science were harmoniously studied. The First Campers taught students about our area’s First people and their culture, crafts, and games. Younger explorers were invited to The Wonders of Nature Preschool Camp (A Cooperative Day Camp between Pacifica Garden and Imagine That Creative Children’s Center), which emphasized looking, listening, and feeling. Finally, Nature in Your Backyard brought bird and bee experts to teach our campers about the wildlife living around their homes and county parks.

I love watching children come into the mobile science trailer in such a state of enthusiasm; it is a joy to see them having fun and learning so much in a short period of time. ~
