“Exploring Nature with Kids!”

You’ve seen the big, green science-exploring-machine traveling to your elementary schools for the past 11 years! Your friendly Caterpillar facilitators are offering exciting nature camps filled with science, nature, art and fun!

The Music of Nature

Week of June 25th – 28th
4 days located on Pacifica’s 540 acres. We will explore music, nature and science. Music activities will include playing & making instruments along with learning about the science of music. Nature activities will include learning about animal sounds & communication, hiking, nature exploration of ponds and woodlands, building a bird house, and learning outdoor survival skills. Optional group performance at Pacifica’s Family Fun Fest (see below).

Pacifica’s Family Fun Fest

June 30th
11:00 am – 11:00 pm
Join us for a day of fun family activities and a night of live music, all to support The Caterpillar’s Summer 2012 Nature Day Camps! Celebrate the beginning of summer with food, arts & crafts, vendors, fishing, horse riding, and of course, The Caterpillar! Camping is available for you and your family at one of our provided campsites. Come show your support for The Caterpillar with a Saturday of family fun! For more information, click here.

The First Campers

Week of July 16th – 19th
4 days of exploring nature and learning about our area’s First People’s culture, crafts, and games. Also explore Pacifica’s habitats, plants, and animals, and study insect pollinators taught by a bee specialist. Lots of fun activities, hiking, art, survival skills and journaling. Optional visit to nearby Sundance Ceremony.

The Wonders of Nature Preschool Camp

A Cooperative Day Camp between Pacifica Garden and Imagine That Creative Children’s Center
Week of July 30th – August 2nd
Ages 4 to 6 will have fun with nature by exploring and learning through activities, art and songs. Looking, listening and feeling will be emphasized. Two great field trips are planned to Pacfica and Waters Creek Trail. Parent participation in class is welcome; field trip drivers will be needed. Subjects include: Birds & Bats, Insects & Pond Habitat and Forest Animals & Plants.

Nature in Your Backyard

Week of August 6th – 9th
4 days of learning about the wildlife living around your home and county parks. Learn how to create habitats and ways to attract wildlife. Special visits and activities by bird and bee experts. Two field trips to Waters Creek Trail and Pacifica: A Garden in the Siskiyous.
Location: Parkside Elementary School, 735 SW Wagner Meadows Drive, Grants Pass

Day Camp Information for All Camps

Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Ages: 5-11 years old, except Wonders of Nature Preschool Camp: 4-6 years old
Cost: $115 in city resident / $122 out of city resident
Participating Instructors: Vanessa Martinez, Linda Mullens, Peg Prag, Aaron Riechers and Sarah Red-Laird
