Phil Hicks

Phil Hicks worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 41 years before retiring to Brookings, Oregon in 2002. He’s been into digital photography for 12-14 years, having taken about 40,000 photographs, many of them along the ocean and beaches of the Southern Oregon coast. He sold his work for several years before moving to the Grants Pass area. Phil is also an avid birder and belongs to the Audubon Society of Grants Pass and the Oregon Field Ornithologists, and does volunteer work for the North American Phenology Project, USGS-PWRC. He has a life list of approximately 450 wild bird observations.

Phil’s primary camera is a Canon Rebel digital XTi with wide angle lens and a zoom to 300mm lens.
